Larry Ruebling is a Missouri artist whose work reflects a lifelong appreciation for history, nature, and the stories that connect people to the places they call home. With family roots in St. Charles County dating back to the mid-1800s, Larry developed an early connection to the landscapes, rivers, historic towns, and traditions of Missouri. His artistic journey began with a love of drawing, painting, and observing the natural world—a connection strengthened through years spent working outdoors trimming trees and landscaping while pursuing his education in Commercial Art at Angel State University in San Angelo, Texas.
​Following a distinguished career in the United States Air Force, Larry carried forward the values of discipline, craftsmanship, and respect for history into his artwork. His experiences living and traveling throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia expanded his appreciation for different cultures, historic places, and the people whose stories shape them. Working in oil, pastel, watercolor, gouache, pen and ink, and digital media, he combines traditional artistic techniques with modern tools to capture the character and spirit of each subject.
Today, through Larry Ruebling Fine Art — The Heritage Collection, established in 2026, Larry creates artwork dedicated to preserving the places, people, and memories that might otherwise fade with time. His collections include Missouri landscapes, plein air paintings, historic architecture, European scenes, and portraits celebrating American heritage. Each piece is created not simply as an image, but as a visual story—a record of a moment, a place, and the enduring connections that define our shared history.
My Journey
The Heritage Collection grew from a lifelong appreciation for history, travel, and the quiet beauty of the places that shape our lives. As I traveled throughout Missouri, across America, and abroad, I discovered that the most meaningful stories are often found not in famous landmarks, but in the ordinary places where generations lived, worked, worshipped, and celebrated life. Those discoveries inspired me to preserve these scenes before they disappeared to time. Each artwork begins with research, photography, and firsthand observation, then is carefully developed using traditional artistic principles and modern digital artistry. Accompanied by Heritage Records and Inspiration Records, every Heritage Edition preserves not only the image itself but also the story behind it. What began as a personal artistic journey has become a lifelong mission—to preserve yesterday for tomorrow and leave future generations with a lasting visual record of the places and communities that define our shared heritage.

The Ruebling Fine Art logo is more than a company emblem—it is a symbol of preservation, heritage, and the enduring stories found in the places we call home.

At the center of the seal stands The Heritage Oak, inspired by the magnificent oak trees of the Missouri Botanical Garden. Those trees have long held personal meaning for me, reminding me of peaceful walks through the garden with my wife and of a lifelong appreciation for the beauty of nature. They also recall my younger years working in landscaping, where I developed a deep respect for the strength, character, and longevity of great trees.
​​Like the oak itself, every work in the Heritage Collection is intended to be firmly rooted in history while extending its branches into the future. The tree symbolizes strength, endurance, wisdom, and the passing of stories from one generation to the next. Its roots represent our connection to the past, while its branches reach toward the future, reflecting the mission of Ruebling Fine Art—to preserve yesterday for tomorrow.

The surrounding landscape reflects the places that have inspired my artistic journey: Missouri's rolling countryside, historic communities, quiet rural roads, and the landmarks that tell the story of our shared heritage. The words EST. May 1993 recognize the beginning of my professional artistic journey (even though I had been studying and creating art since 1968) and honor the years of experience that have shaped Ruebling Fine Art into what it is today.
